| Padmanabha Swamy Temple |

The holiest Sri Padmanabha Swami temple at trivandrum is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The temple is a combination of the Kerala and Dravidian style architecture. It is a good example of South Indian architecture, with seven-storey impressive tower (gopuram). Only hindus are allowed inside the temple, and they have rules for clothing. Even Hindu males must enter the temple wearing only white dhoti. Sri Padmanabha Swami Temple is one of the holy sites for 108 Vaishnavas, is held in high veneration. There is a tradition that God in the temple is believed to be worshiped by the Chandra and Indra. |

The museum has a vast collection of artifacts of artistic, cultural and antique importance, which comprises the sculptures in bronze, stone, carvings of wood and ivory, lamps, textiles, Kathakali models, handicraft items, traditional musical instruments etc. A treasure of numismatic collections representing Chera, Chola, Pandya dynasties of Southern India are also included in this state of the art museum.. The bronze display include fascinating images of Siva, Vishnu, Parvathi and Lakshmi in 'Silpa Sastras'. The metal images illustrate the features of South Indian sculpture style from 8th to 18th Century. The Vishnu image of 8th Century collected from Ambalapuzha temple in, which has Pallava style. This is the oldest metal image in the State. The stone sculptures belong to 8th to 18th century. All the wood carvings exhibited here shows high degree of excellence. |
